Wallace D. Wattles – a Man Who CHOSE to be Rich

Wallace D. Wattles

Wallace D. Wattles (1860 – 1911) wrote several powerful, life-changing books over 100 years ago, but very little is known about his life. For most of his life he lived in poverty although many times he attempted – with many failures along the way – to create an abundant life for his family. He was dismissed from the Methodist church because of his “heresy”, according to his daughter Florence.

In latter years of his life his unremitting study, writing and research finally paid off and he made lots of money and enjoyed pretty good health. He became a living example of the concepts he was writing and lecturing about. “He formed his mental picture. He saw himself as a successful writer, a personality of power, an advancing man, and he began to work toward the realization of this vision . . . . . He lived every page of “The Science of Being Great” (Florence Wattles)

The thoughts and words from his best known book  – “The Science of Getting Rich” -  inspired Rhonda Brynes to create the successful The Secret DVD. Other Wallace D. Wattles well known books and articles that he wrote include “The Science of Being Well”, “The Science of Being Great,”  “How to Get What you Want,” “Health Through New Thought and Fasting,”  “Making of the Man Who Can,” and “Hellfire Harrison” – a novel and “The Science of Abundant Life.”

Let Wallace D. Wattles Inspire You to Change Your Life

A consistent theme with Wattles is his insistence on using our brains and our own thoughts to bring about changes on our lives. In many ways his ideas were revolutionary for his times; at the same time you can find similar sentiments in The Bible, The Koran, in the teachings of Buddha – “Everything works under the same laws, yesterday, today and forever.”

Wattles is adamant that we create our own lives, and that does not happen if we sit on our backsides waiting for the golden fruit to fall in our laps. The following quote illustrates the basis of all his thought:

“The scientific use of thought consists in forming a clear and distinct mental image of what you want; in holding fast to the purpose to get what you want; and in realizing with grateful faith that you do get what you want.”
